A few years ago, I retired from a 34 year career in hospice counseling, at which time I began writing poetry. My poems are influenced by my patients’ journeys, the compelling beauty of nature, and the human condition. I enjoy getting lost in the woods, floral design, music, and jumping in puddles with my grandchildren. Baudelaire tells us to ‘be drunk’ on our passion every day of our lives. I am drunk on poetry and intend never to be sober. I live near the Jersey Shore with my husband and Bernese Mountain Dog, Dottie.

Thank you, buddy. I thought you might like it since it references at least three of your favorite things…sugar, geese, and Halloween!

Thank you, my friend. It was fun to write. A chuppah is a canopy, a symbol of hospitality- of inviting guests into your home; also a place under which marriages are performed.

A powerfully penned piece, Steve. Your pain and anguish conveyed so poignantly through your words, I feel it too. The militaristic description of your father brilliantly enables the reader to feel the pain and fear you suffered at his hand, and hardened heart. It hurts me to know someone like you endured such pain inflicted by a parent.
