I retired from a thirty-five year career in hospice and bereavement counseling, at which time I began writing poetry and prose. My work is influenced by my patients’ journeys, the compelling beauty of nature, and the human condition. When not writing, I also enjoy getting lost in the woods, flower arranging, music, and jumping in puddles with my grandchildren. I live near the Jersey Shore with my husband and Bernese Mountain Dog, Dottie.

That's so true Susie. To take the story a little further, the owner's wife trained these dogs to be therapy dogs. His name was Reggie and we were fast and furious friends!

It's ironic that you write a short story that I end up voting for. There has to be some kind of cosmic force that links us. I thought you should have won something other than a cup. In the meantime, you should know I had a connection to a Burnese Mountain dog as well that belonged to a shop owner in Door County WI. I used to sneak him beef jerky's when the owner wasn't looking. HA! more »
