“The prophecy.” “Excuse me?” “Mhm,” she finished licking off her fingers. “That was a good donut.” She jumped over me & started walking back to the mansion. “Come on, Abby. Let’s go get that keycard.” Three seconds. That was how long it took me to realize that Haven Dean knew the prophecy. But no one else did. Least I didn’t. But I decided not to think about it, because we were about to put the biggest heist in Olympus’s name into action. First, we watched Angel to signal us where the keycard is. She pretended to pick up a penny off the floor & stuff it into her back pocket. We summed it up to the location of the card. So Haven purposely bumped into Mr. Mayron & apologized while I grabbed the card from his butt pocket. Second, we shadow traveled to the door that led to the bow. I handed her a hair tie & called Phineas to tell him to turn the lights off so no one could see us. The lights were off. We took the keycard & swiped it on the panel to open the door. We slipped inside while people tried to figure out why the lights were out. We were officially in. The room was dark, & the only thing in it was Eros’s bow. And a bunch of lasers. “Who knew the goddess of night could afford all this?” Haven said as I tied some rope to a bow. I thought it was a fir point. I mean, where does she get the money? I launched the arrow with the rope attached right by the pedestal that the bow was sitting on. Once the bow was grounded, Haven took her mini-sickle out & used the long bit to zip-line down the rope & grab the bow along with the quiver. I fired another rope arrow down to the lower floor where Haven was standing. She shouldered the bow & quiver & climbed the rope to the upper floor where I was. Almost there… She hopped over the railing & we quickly got out of that room. The lights were back on by the time we got out there, & I was trying to call Axel, but he wasn’t picking up, but Angel did, & I told her we had the bow. She was as excited as we were! I called Phineas & Quinn too. Quinn was very excited that she actually got to go on a quest with me & the other blessings. I hung up. Haven & I were sitting on the floor of one of the bathrooms on the third floor. “Well that was easy,” Haven joked. We both laughed. Then right on cue, something went off. A long, high-pitched wail, accompanied by some red flashing lights in the bathroom. “Is that…” “An alarm?” I finished. “I told you.” Who in Zeus’s name set off the alarm?! Probably Harrison. I’m gonna kill him! Haven & I ran through the crowded room that was full of monsters of all kinds, earth born, some weird wheat things, & cyclopses (which were probably the only normal thing there). We found the others attacking monsters & killing them left, right, & center. We managed to kill enough monsters to get to the group, but I didn’t see everyone. Zane, Phineas, Alexa & Harry were there, but I didn’t see Angel, Axel, or Quinn. “Where’s everyone else?” I screamed at the group as I fired an arrow at an earth born. “Well, I don’t know where Angel & Axel went!” Harry chucked a fireball at a clump of wheat things, which caught 1/4 of all the wheat things on fire. “But I’m pretty sure your girlfriend is downing shots!” I stopped firing arrows. Not only because Harry had just called Quinn my girlfriend, but also the fact that she was downing shots! “Why is Quinn downing shots!?” I fired another few arrows. “We don’t know!” Alexa shouted. “Well, well, well,” someone interrupted our screaming, & that someone came through the crowd of half-burned wheat things & cyclopses. It was Mr. Mayron, but this time he was wearing a pin on his shirt. A pin of mist. Of course he works for Nyx. Why else would the bow be in his house? “My, my,” he said. “6 heroes left, what a surprise,” he strode towards us. “No wonder most of your friends joined us. Including the two newest ones.” He gestured toward the crowed behind him, & three more people slept out. Ariel, the first to betray us. She was the reason most of the blessings had already joined Nyx. Then the other two. Angelica & Axel. We all stared at the three standing side by side, while Axel was holding hands with Ariel. “Axel…?” Haven was the first to speak. She just sort of stared at him. He sighed. “Sorry, honey.” Was all he said, & disappeared back into the crowd. I pushed her behind me. “What do you plan to do with us?” I asked Ariel. “Nothing with you!” She reassured me. “All I want is the child.” “What?!” We all screamed, & Haven hid behind me more. “You can’t have her!” “But I can!” She exclaimed. “You just… have to hand her over!” She sounded like a crazy person trying not to lash out. “Why do you want her anyways?” “Because she knows the prophecy!” Everyone stopped killing things & looked straight at us. “She knows the prophecy?” Zane said to us. Hades’s blessing grabbed my leg tighter. She’s too young for this. She’s only 7, for crying out loud! I have to put an end to this. “Alexa,” I guided Haven to her. “Get her to some safety.” She nodded & took Haven by the hand. “Harry, go find Quinn.” He nodded. “You two,” I pointed to Zane & Phineas. “Y’all are with me.” They nodded & readied their weapons. The three I sent away dispersed. “Now!” I looked at Ariel. “Let’s have some fun, hm?” How long will this fight last? Ariel & I had been fighting for a good while now. I had no clue what was going on around me. There was just a bunch of shouting & wheat things evaporating like crazy. I was firing arrows all over, but I always missed Ariel by a few inches, so I killed more cyclopses than I wanted to. And she kept going at me with her sword, but missed every time. Both of us were only paying attention to each other. She was throwing insults at me, I was throwing insults at her. It was glorious. Until we both heard something… that didn’t sound like a cyclops dying, those dissolved into dust. It sounded like a person dying. Specifically someone’s dead body hitting the floor. She turned back. And somebody had been shot with an arrow. My arrow. And that body was Angelica. I had just killed Angelica. Ariel gasped, & dropped her sword. I took advantage of her shock. I notched an arrow, kicked her down to a nearby wall & pressed my foot against her chest, her back pressed against it, while I held the notched arrow under her chin. We were both breathing pretty heavily by that point, though it was harder for her with my foot up against her chest. “You mu…” She murmured. I hadn’t even realized it but I had made her bleed from her mouth. I couldn’t see it, but I could feel my forehead bleeding from her sword. “You’re a traitor, & so is your little boyfriend.”
