Winter Night
The sounds of a fire could be heard in the cozy room. Blankets were laid near the fireplace, and candles were lit everywhere to brighten the room. Winter was colder this year, snow fell so often in the day or night. No one hated it, though; it was a time to spend with those you loved. Christmas was around the corner, and trees would be placed up and decorated by families. Children would play in the snow when it was light out, but now it was a calm night. A peaceful night to sit alone near a lit fire and think of the good memories. A woman, whose hair was like the cherry blossoms in the spring and eyes like the blue sky, sat by the warmth. Blankets cover her body as she holds a book in her hands to read before sleeping away to her dreams. She knew that the others were together with each other or alone, though she wished to spend alone time with someone special to her heart. Her aloneness will soon end… Sakura stared at her book, soon hearing the big wooden doors open to the living area. Her eyes snapped from the book and made their way towards whoever entered. "Zero…" Her eyes widened as the dark-haired man stood before her, feeling her heart beat slightly faster. "I wasn't sure anyone was in here…" Zero stated. His words were a lie as he found himself looking for her that night, knowing the others were doing the same. Sakura smiled softly, lightly closing her book and setting it down next to her. "Hehe. You seem like you were looking for someone?" She giggles a bit, soon questioning him. Zero softened, noticing that she caught him lying. "I was looking for someone…" He answered as he turned to close the doors. "I was looking for you…" Sakura was shocked, that she turned to face him fully. 'He was looking for me?' She thought as she wondered what he wanted or needed from her. But she did feel a slight happiness in her heart, from the fact he looked for her that night. She soon watched this man walk towards her, seeing that the fire's light fully covered him. Zero slightly froze before her, moving his hand to the back of his neck. He never had done anything like this, never in his seven hundred years of life. "May I join you?" He finally asked her, his tone was calm yet quiet. Sakura noticed his slight freeze but soon smiled as she knew he was trying. They both were on good terms with starting as friends, but love blossomed between them afterward. Sakura soon nodded towards him, letting her hand pat the fur blankets below her. Zero bent downwards, soon sitting next to her. Silence became the both of them, their eyes staring towards the fire. Zero breaks the stare and looks toward Sakura. "I never had Christmas with anyone, not since I was younger. Seeing you and the others celebrating it, made me feel mixed emotions. That's why I pushed it back from me, I didn't expect it to hurt you or everyone. Seeing the others getting close to each other was completely different. Sky and Akara being something completely made me question myself if I could be like them." Zero started, seeing Sakura turn her attention to him. Sakura listened to him, nodding in understanding. "Christmas is difficult for all of us, even if we experience different situations. I don't remember the Christmases I had with my parents, considering I was so young. I understood that you didn't want to be a part of this but at the same time... Not only that, but I wanted to try to help you have a special Christmas at least once. But..." Sakura paused for a bit, looking down at her hands that rubbed against each other in her lap. Zero watches her, keeping in mind the emotions she is feeling at the moment of her speech. His eyes softened more as they gave her a caring sparkle. His arm moved on its own, letting his hand soon place itself over her hands. His eyes soon met hers as her head moved upwards. That moment was so clear for him, that she was the one to open his heart up. Zero's eyes soon moved towards the windows, noticing that the snow started to fall heavily. Sakura followed him, soon noticing what he saw. Her body felt a slight coldness against her skin, and she soon noticed that her blanket had been removed from her. She soon felt something warm, letting it completely take in the coldness she felt. Though her body shivered, the same warmth pulled her towards him. Zero moved closer to her at this moment, letting her sit between his legs. Sakura looked at him, noticing that he moved closer to her. Her cheeks were flustered with color, but she didn't back away from him. They know we're face-to-face. Sakura let her legs move over him, soon fully sitting down on the floor below them. "Zero… Spend the night with me and hold me until dawn." She whispered to him, letting her body melt into his, and looked up towards him softly. Zero heard her pled, and he soon placed his arm behind her back and felt her immediately melt into him. He held her up as he pulled her closer, making sure the space in between was forever gone. "I'll hold you whenever you want me to… Even if it's on a summer's day or on a winter night. I'll never let go of you." Zero whispered back to her as he leaned closer to her, soon meeting her lips with his. The night continued onwards, the snow made the night beautiful for blissful romance. Sometimes, it happens to those who least expect to ever feel that way.
