One day the blue sky asked the sea, “Which is bluest, you or me?” Sea said, “I am more blue than you, But, true enough, you are blue, too.” Sky said, “I'm blue as blue can be! Sky blue is called sky blue for me!” “Each sunset you turn pink and red And end up lavender,” Sea said. “Oh, no,” said Sky, “I do not think There is a ‘sky red’ or ‘sky pink!’ When it comes down to just us two, You are sea green, I am sky blue.” “Excuse me, but I have been called The deep blue sea by one and all. When it comes down to me and you,” Said Sea, “I'm bluest, through and through.” On they argued, June to fall, No one could agree at all, Until they saw, one chilly day— The sea was dull, the sky was gray— A flock of bluebirds flutter by! “Oh, my goodness!” gasped the sky. “Did you see that?” The sea was stunned. “The bluest thing under the sun! It isn't me and isn't you! I've never seen a bluer blue!” Sky and Sea agreed at last! They were pals like in the past, And each felt he was second best: “Next to bluebirds, i am bluest!”
