The Lion and the Ass

"The Lion and the Ass" is a classic fable from Aesop, a famed Greek storyteller. This short tale is about an unusual partnership between a lion and an ass. They decide to hunt together, and the ass is used to lure out the prey with his braying, while the lion does the killing. In the end, the ass expects half of the reward for his contribution, but the lion, being the more powerful, refuses to share. The story serves as a moral lesson about the imbalance of power and the consequences of unequal partnerships.

One day as the Lion walked proudly down a forest aisle, and the animals respectfully made way for him, an Ass brayed a scornful remark as he passed. The Lion felt a flash of anger. But when he turned his head and saw who had spoken, he walked quietly on. He would not honor the fool with even so much as a stroke of his claws. Do not resent the remarks of a fool. Ignore them.
