The girl at the bar
I wrote this story because I love detective stories and I wanted to create one of my own.
Luna’s POV I sat at the bar waiting for him to walk in. I felt weird sitting alone surrounded by people who looked to be having the time of their lives but I wanted to seem desperate. I wanted him to come up to me. He has a history with going up to “lonely girls” Multiple men have already come up to me at this point but none of them were him. He needs to be here. I saw him walk into the noisy bar. He looked as if someone was following him, constantly checking behind him, almost as if he was hiding something, I knew he was. I sat there waiting for him to walk up to me, a lonely girl waiting for attention but that's only what I wanted him to think. I turned to the bartender and ordered a glass of chardonnay as I saw him approaching. I looked up and saw the same man who I watched walk into the bar now hovering over me. His dark eyes looked like he was so lost into thought but also on some kind of mission. I was getting lost in his eyes when he interrupted. “Hi," he said with such confidence. “Hi?” I said trying to sound confused but I knew why he was here. I knew the type of man he was. “I saw you sitting here alone and I wanted to give you some company” he was now sitting at the bar stool to the left of me. “Okay so what's your name?” I said, wanting him to reveal every part of himself to me. ”Now before I introduce myself, what is a beautiful girl like you sitting alone at a bar?” I have thought this all through. I knew my cover story and any question he would ask I had the answer to. “It’s a long story, let's just say my day hasn’t been the best but maybe it will get a little better now.” “My name is Silas and what can I call you bonita” I already knew his name. He is Silas Madoxx, the head of New Mexico’s crime organization. They call it The Nameless Only I knew all the names of every single person who worked for him. “My name is Luna” That part is true my name is Luna Solace, I am the head detective for the New Mexico PD. I have been following this man for months and only now did I get the opportunity to show up to his bar to finally catch him. “I have heard a rumor about a Silas. Maybe my rumor is about you?” I wanted to antagonize him to the point where he may reveal anything to get me to put him in jail for the rest of his pathetic life. I saw him get a little nervous but he covered it quickly. “And what would that be?” He asked eager to know if I knew who he was. “Only that Silas is the owner of this very bar and he’s a total playboy” I watched the worry fall off his face as he laughed and replied, “I wouldn’t say the playboy part is true but I am the owner of La Trinidad.” His voice was so deep and had a small spanish accent. Silas’ POV I sat for what felt like hours listening to Luna’s story of her horrible day but I didn't mind. This girl felt like she was radiating sunlight off of her fair skin, and even in the dark lights of the bar her blue eyes sparkled. I had only met this girl an hour ago but there was something about her I just couldn’t shake.. It was as if she was trying to figure me out, know things about me that she didn’t need to know. As much as I wanted to keep entertaining the conversation I needed to end it. I didn’t need her knowing about my business, something was just too off about her. “Hey Luna.” I just needed a way to leave the conversion. “Yeah Silas?” She almost got this sad expression that I was going to leave, it almost made me feel bad. Why am I even caring of what this girl thinks she's just a lonely girl who was drinking at a bar no concern to me. “I am going to call it a night, nice meeting you bonita.” I cut it off short and sweet and started to walk away when I felt a pull at my arm. “Silas Maddox you are under arrest for multiple accounts of drug trafficking” I was caught off guard the girl I had been talking to for an hour was a cop. I knew something was off about her. “With what evidence?” I said in a cold tone. As she was putting me in handcuffs the bar went quiet and everyone turned their attention to me and the cop. “You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions. You have the right to have a lawyer with you during questioning.” Luna’s POV I have spent six months on this case and I finally caught him. Silas Maddox was finally going to jail. I wanted to get more out of him but I guess he is smarter than I thought, regardless none of that matters. I have enough evidence to put him away for a long time. Now all I care about is getting all of his accomplices. “And here I thought you were just a pretty girl living a depressing life.” He said that with such annoyance that it made me mad, like I was the one that did something wrong. He is the crime boss and I am the one that finally caught him after five years of him starting this business. We sat across from each other in the observation room for the last thirty minutes because he refused to talk until now. “So now you decide to talk. Silas, who are you selling to?” I knew it wouldn’t be that easy. It would take hours of integration for him to say anything. So that's what we did. We sat there for hours. I tried to get whatever information out of him that I could. Silas sat up straight and interlocked his fingers on the metal table “So is your name really Luna or was that a lie too?” “My name is Luna but that's not why we are here. Give me the information I want to know so we can both get out of this room.” I wasn’t playing around anymore, I was so irritated by just sitting there with small talk I already had to endure an hour of that at the bar. “Come on bonita we both know you are just wasting your time here. I'm not going to say anything that I don’t want you to know.” “First stop calling me bonita and if you don’t want to talk then fine you can rot in prison what do I care. I caught you, how hard can it be catching all your buyers.” If he didn’t want to talk fine I wasn’t going to make him. He was right about one thing: I was wasting my time sitting here knowing he wouldn’t say anything to me. “Good luck with that bonita” he said as he laughed and smirked. Could this guy get any more irritating? I was done with this conversation so I got up and walked away. I watched as the officers put his handcuffs back on and walked him back to his cell. “Hey detective, nice meeting you” He walked away laughing. I got a call later that night Silas Maddox escaped back to square one.
