I’m a normal kid in a normal world. That was until I found the door. I thought it was just a myth, but it wasn’t. Everyone in my town was always talking about a door to…something. Nobody could think of what could be behind it. I remember how I found it, I was wandering in the woods near our house. I saw a weird looking tree that caught my eye and felt like exploring. It was tall, lean and there was a door shape carved into it.. I walked away, but it felt like the door was pulling me. I slowly walked back to it, scared to touch it. It felt like it was pulling me in with a tight rope around my waist. I stood near the tree pacing back and forth till I summoned up enough courage to grab the knob.  I didn’t know what to expect, but I didn’t expect it to be like this. It felt like ice, even though it was hot outside. Just then a jolt of electricity ran through my fingers. My hand jerked away in pain. I stepped back, scared and unsure of what to do next. Slowly I stepped back up to the door, and reached for the knob again. It was no longer icy, it felt…normal. I wasn’t sure if what just happened was real. I could just be delusional. I wrapped my hand around the knob and pulled, expecting the door to stay shut. It did for a few seconds, like it was hesitating. I slowly let go of the knob and stepped away. I had just started the walk back home when the door swung open with a rush of wind to reveal…  Nothing.  It was just wood behind it.  I don’t know why but I was expecting something to be there. It was childish to believe in stuff like that. I was hoping it would be a portal to a new magical world for me to explore. Or maybe a secret squirrel hut. Or at least anything to get me out of this dull town. That whole experience was terrifying. I didn’t realize it till I got home. I found the most well-known town myth. Even though there was nothing behind that door, it was still there. I still opened it. I thought about telling my family. I lived with my cousin who was about my age. Would they believe me? I doubt they would. But who would I tell? Should I keep it a secret?  I wasn’t sure about anything anymore. I didn’t even know if that was real. It was at that point when I decided to go back the next day. I woke up in the woods, next to the door. I didn’t know how I got there. Or why I was there. It didn't feel real. But nothing has since I found that door. I stood up and looked around. There were no other living things near me other than the trees. I reached for the door, to see if it was still just wood. This time when I touched the knob it was a normal temperature. I wrapped my hand around it and pulled. The door opened with ease. I was so fascinated by it that I didn't even look inside. I probably wouldn’t have if I didn’t feel a cold hand rush out and grab my neck.  I was terrified. It felt like I was being pulled into water. I’m not sure what it was, but I wanted to get away from it. I tried to pull away, but its grip was too strong. It was holding on even through all my kicks and punches. It was trying to take me somewhere, and would probably succeed.  That was my last thought before I passed out. I woke up in a hospital room. There wasn’t anybody nearby. I stood up, and started for the door. I wasn’t sure why I would be in the hospital. Did I hit my head on something? All I remember was the hand in the door. Was that even real? If it was, I would believe it. That hand had to have been real. It was cold, but felt real. My thoughts were disrupted when a doctor barged into the room. He looked shocked when he saw me standing there. He ran back out and came back in with my mom.  She looked shocked.  She ran towards me and hugged me. She was crying. I decided to ask her what was going on. She paused for a moment, then the words came.  She told me I had been sitting in that hospital bed for 7 years. I was in a coma. All this time, how could it be possible?  Everyone acted normal. Everyone sounded normal. It made no sense. Everything just felt so…Real.
