The bellman
The Bellman Around 1:30 A.M. last night, I was startled by the sound of a small bell jingling outside my house. Initially, I assumed it was just the neighbor's cat, "Alan," wandering around. However, my concern heightened when I heard a sudden loud noise, followed by the distinct sound of heavy footsteps receding into the distance. The noise that had occurred was more forceful than expected. It sounded as if something had been knocked over, perhaps my niece's small rocking chair. Nevertheless, the intensity of the footsteps didn't match the behavior of any cat or typical neighborhood mischief-maker. This left me puzzled and concerned about what could have been the cause. The next night I got home from a long day at work but when I left for work I noticed that someone left a small red envelope with $150 with nothing more or nothingness I was confused because when I woke up this morning to see what the noise could've been there wasn't anything in sight nothing on my porch was broken nothing in my backyard was out of place even the rocking chair was okay I didn’t have an explanation for why or how this would have happened but there’s no point in worrying, after all, it was just one night. Or so I thought… I left the little red envelope unopened on my dresser and I would take it to the bank tomorrow and deposit it in my account not once thinking about the possibility it could be lost but who carries $150 in a red envelope? And even if it was lost I found it on my doorstep. I crept into bed when I heard that all-familiar sound again the bell it was ringing again but accompanied by it was a low voice just softly whispering in the trees “O I ask, O I ask, O I ask of you O I need, O I need, O I need from you O Daniel O Daniel O Daniel where is my bell?” Suddenly I felt a cold shiver run down my spine. How on earth could whoever that was possibly know my name? I wondered if it was one of my friends playing a terrible prank or a sick and twisted joke if it was then I needed better friends so I took a peek out from my bedroom window where you could see some of the neighborhood and my front porch there it was standing there on my porch and what I saw wasn't my friend it stood 6’11 it was completely pale but still looked human dressed from to toe he was completely covered in blood with a small silver hand bell in his fingers and he kept ringing the bell He kept ringing the bell He rang it all night long To be continued…
