Thalassophobia
“Here I am, not ready”... Cordelia sighed. “But I'm going to do it anyway”. She said in a monotone, but Cordelia was frightened as she was about to head into the water for scuba diving. Her mom reassured her telling her she was going to be safe and “it is going to be a great hobby for the summer” but that was far from the truth and Cordelia’s gut knew that. She headed into the water feeling seasick but after a couple of seconds, she thought. “Wow maybe I was wrong this is so much fun”. Then just a couple of minutes later she felt sick again then the moment a shark attacked her. The next time she opened her eyes she was looking up at the ceiling of a hospital and her leg got bitten but was surprisingly just broken and healed within a matter of months. Three years later exactly she was forced to try scuba diving again by her pushy mother, and this time it was just as dreadful and melancholy as the last time and unbelievable that you could even write a book about it and would not even want it in your life even if nothing is exciting in your life at all, and perhaps it is an inordinate amount of boring, and you decided to read this book for excitement, but we are not talking about your life we are talking about Cordelia’s life so to continue she jumped in lackadaisical and for a couple of minutes she wandered around the ocean anxiously and unexpectedly got snatched by multiple octopuses that looked as if they were mixed with a lion and were just as vicious and cruel as a lion that has not been fed for days. Cordelia had that type of feeling you feel when you miss a step on the stairs, a mini heart attack, the scariest moment in your life possible, well Cordelia broke that record because this particular moment was the scariest, that moment when the octopus took her into their grotto was the most phantasmagorical, sinister, fearful, horrifying, blood-curling moment of her life. Once she was taken into the grotto by the octopi she was the most anxious she had ever been. “So,” one of the octopuses said scornfully “So what” Cordelia nervously said back with a crack in her voice “You know why you’re here,” said one of the octopuses quite rudely because Cordelia did not know why she was there “No, I don’t, explain” “You mean we got the wrong Cordelia” said a different octopus who went by the odd name Archibald “I guess we did Archibald,” the previous octopus who was talking said angrily “Well I am too lazy to grab the correct one, so this knockoff version will do the mission for us” “I am not a knockoff and what mission do you want me to do for you” Cordelia said sounding mad, but she was both mad and nervous and was not prepared for what Archibald was about to say “You will murder the water dragon that looks like a jabberwocky, we call him Jeff so you should too, or else he will get extremely mad,” Archibald said surprisingly calm and collected “Well let's go knockoff Cordelia,” said the one particular octopus Cordelia liked the least Cordelia did not like being called a knockoff but would way rather be called a knockoff than slay a monster that wanted to be called Jeff but had no choice as the octopus gave her a sword and brings her to an underwater ersatz fighting arena was she had to kill Jeff, but the swim was very long because she did not want to kill a vicious monster called Jeff and when you are dreadful about something it will take forever the same when you are baking cookies and can’t wait for the cookies to be done of course that circumstance is a lot less dreadful but the best way to explain how Cordelia felt. She finally got to the fighting arena and was waiting for Jeff to show up she waited for two minutes, but it felt more like two million years, when Jeff showed up Archibald counted them off by the count of twenty-two and shouted the counts very loud Jeff and Cordelia fought and fought while Cordelia had a sword Jeff had his sharp teeth Cordelia quickly struck her sword, but Jeff defended himself with his teeth, then Jeff stuck with his claws, but Cordelia defended with her sword, and it went like this for quite some time Cordelia striking with her sword and Jeff striking with claws and both of them defending themselves with their teeth and sword and so on and so forth and so on and so forth and so on and so forth and then multiply that by a hundred the multiply that by three and then finally after all then math-most people’s least favorite subject-Cordelia took the courageous move to strike the monster named Jeff in his heart with her very, very sharp sword, and then he let out a yelp of pain then turned into dust and floated away. All the octopus-lion hybrid octopi cheered and Cordelia felt proud of herself but couldn't believe it she took a very long blink trying to process everything and when she was ready she opened her eyes and saw the painted stars on her ceiling she twisted and turned in her loft bed then fell of six feet which was not at all fun but snapped her back to reality and realized it was all a dream to which her mom called her down for breakfast to which she felt more awake and was glad that woeful dream was over to live her more lovely life, and then she said ready to start the day “Here I am, about to have a lovely day” she chuckled at herself and stood up from the hardwood floor she fell onto and went downstairs for breakfast.
