My early teens I never fell into the habit of substance abuse when my friends took they’re first swig of alcohol I was at home.It wasn’t till I turned 17 something changed in me,trying anything to fill a empty void inside me.
Alcohol was good it made me laugh 
Drugs was good because it made me forget 
I thought I could stop now that I’m an adult 
I can’t 
It’s too good 
Too safe and all too comforting 
When I look at my friends and people I know 
They’ve got over this phase 
They got over filling the void 
Working full time to have a future 
Only drinking a glass of wine 
All in steady and stable relationships 
Whereas I got left behind 
The end
