Story of a Victim of Human Trafficking
I am my family saviour, so I thought
My Bittersweet experience Young, naive, and innocent, Beautiful, plump, and ripe. My poverty-stricken parent Sent me on a journey of no return. Ignorance blinded them, They trusted a stranger To take me where I would save them from destitution. I was not the only Messiah. As many as we were, Squeezed together like sardines On a near-death voyage. Hunger struck us like thunder, Crumbs of bread satisfied us not. Our spit filled our thirst at least. Not the strongest but the luckiest survived. Arriving at the destination, Relief surged through the "alive" us. Nourished and treated nicely, "You need to look healthy," so I was told. Then it was time to work. A skimpy dress was our uniform. I was confused, then it dawned on me, Not a maid, but a product to be sold. Sold to all human species. Frustrated with life, I tried to escape, Found myself back in the dungeon. Animals in human form Forced their way if we refused. Our daily blackmail reminder: "Our parent or death." Which I pray for sometimes. No longer bearable, I planned my escape, A successful one this time. I just wanted to go home. I left with nothing. Roamed around, a rescuer came to my aid. I was skeptical, but followed her. Met people like me, we all have the same story. Vowed, I won't let another fall victim like I did. It wasn't an easy task, But I will continue to bring light to the dark.
