If these mutant caterpillars had known the appearance and function of their ancestors, they would have thought that they were better than our ancestors. Because their speed was many times higher than it's predecessors. The body of their ancestors was wrapped in gray woolen cloth. If something touches their body, they will reveal two black parts the size of rice on their head, and at this time, their disgust will increase many times. The mesquite tree was its only dwelling. these are capable of pupating. The mutant caterpillars were almost a hundred percent different from their ancestors. their color is their ancestors's organs that their ancestors displayed in times of danger. But mutants do not have those organs. They had stiff hairs all over the body, not wooly in texture. The new ones were much faster than the old ones. When the gray caterpillars suddenly changed to black caterpillars, the entire species changed to black caterpillars except for a few gray caterpillars. The new ones consider themselves superior to the old ones. Mutant caterpillars were all the same, with very distinctive body parts and abilities, especially no super powers. This sudden change event was only an event for me and it didn't attract the attention of our uneducated parents or the educated youth because present tamils are not inquisitive. tamils don't learn inquisitive education. rulers intent on plunder don't give people inquisitive education. people have to seek and learn it. The walls of our hut were so high that mutant caterpillars rarely came into our hut. the walls of my friend's hut were so small that the coconut leaves of the hut were touching the earth. mutant caterpillars flock to this leaf area to look like a cluster of drumstick tree caterpillars. But gray caterpillars never had this hard trait. Inhabited not only mesquite trees but also some other shrubs. Novices do not build pupa. When we were kids we used to put old gray caterpillars on firecrackers during diwali and let them explode. After putting them on firecrackers we would light the wick they hold on firecrackers as a safe place and go away. After the explosion, their bodies disintegrated and emit green waste. At those times it didn't make me feel guilty because of its hideous appearance. The agility of the mutant caterpillars meant that they could not be glued to firecrackers.None of the boys tried it. Gray caterpillars have been around since before I was born and for 25 years I have watched them appear and disappear during rainy seasons. But mutant caterpillars survived for only three years. Then the species became completely extinct. The complete extinction of that race kept giving me heartache. One day I was walking by the mesquite tree in front of our hut and there was an gray caterpillars lying alive.I put the sandal foot that was going to slip over it a bit.I have killed gray caterpillars by trampling them with my sandals on such occasions before. But now I didn't do the same. I looked up on the tree. there were many gray caterpillars on the tree. seeing them made me feel less disgusted and happier. At dawn I walked through the mesquite tree in front of our hut. Then I remembered the gray caterpillars back to life in a dream I had while sleeping that night. remembering that dream made me sad.
