Existence Looking Good - A Poem
I'm in the airplane for the second time in my life now and I get to see it at night I sit near the back and I look near the back after I wake up from my nap I look down and see pitch black illuminated in patches by scattered lights I look down at those unorganized and scattered patches some expand into a sea of lights and some are not even the size of a period of a book When I look at that I see humanity Although it's a very unbelievably small part of humanity I still feel like I see it all Those lights, far or near, and everything in the spaces between light and what seems to be a pure void - nothingness, Humanity has touched. Humanity has been there. Everything down there is our mark to everything in existence, our mark to heaven, hell and everything in between, that no matter what, we will persist. No matter what because we always have and always will. Each one of those lights, in turn, represents a human being. Or maybe multiple All going though their life with their own story to tell. As I write this some people down there are laughing with their friends and loved ones. Some are mad as all hell. Some are sad beyond belief. Some are drunk out of their minds and are calling an Uber home because they can't drive. Some people have formed new relationships and some people have ended long standing ones While I write this up here some people have just been born under the best and worst circumstances And while I write this, under those same unpredictable circumstances many people have died No matter what the situation may be the fact that each one of those lights represents humanity and what it means to be a human so well, through the good, the bad, and the ugly. It's so beautiful it's sobering. And when I look out of my window and look up I see the borderline infinity of space and the stars scattered all across the sky, I can't describe it well but it gives all those lights down there, and in turn humanity, a really nice finish to it all. It gives humanity and existence a good look. Anyways im going back to sleep. We're gonna land soon anyways.
