Emotional Greed

This poem was written as a description of the intensity of each emotion, and the human desire to have every single emotion of ours satisfied as soon as possible.

When time wasn't antique God smiled as he was aware He looked down at us, humans And then began the questionnaire Because what kills us makes us want it more "Emotions are a threatening entity," He truthfully said "Would thou desire to seek an experience?" And we desperately nodded, unaware of the trials ahead Because what kills us makes us want it more Our journey embarks at contentment As we receive what we desire But temporary materialistic joys Aren't known to be veteran survivors Because what kills us makes us want it more After which we tumble across sorrows Which shatters our former sensation It leads us down an incessant drain And sucks us dry of delectation Because what kills us makes us want it more Then arrives resentment Which sinks deep in our bones It's piercing thorns that scratch our core And morphs compassion into stone Because what kills us makes us want it more Oh, but one can never forget The duality of the fabled love That enchanted our body, mind and soul Which was a cassowary in the skin of a dove Because what kills us makes us want it more Succeeding the previous experiences The heart overflows with fear and dread As the false evidence that appears to be real Misinterprets falling tears for bloodshed Because what kills us makes us want it more Then God turned to us As he interrogated our opinion once more "How did thou deliberate the sought of emotions?" As he knew well enough the participation made us sore Because what kills us makes us want it more "Oh God we are remorseful We beg thou to save us from this despair" As they struggled to realise That emotional desperation has a fair share Because what kills us makes us want it more But no one was prepared For the final turn of events That our greed led to regret Which was the highlight of His experiments Because what kills us makes us want it more
