every day, every week like clockwork. the lights come on and the sign is turned. my feet move and i get to work. i scrub hard and i bend till my spine wants to break. i have blisters on my feet and my tummy rumbles hard. the zookeeper leaves a message over the speaker and sometimes comes in to feed me. she only takes what she needs and leaves the scraps for me. i wish i could get a golden star. or maybe to be released back into the wild . i feel sick. maybe it’s the worms in my stomach. maybe it’s the feeling i get when i’m left with him. a sick feeling. there are tears in my eyes. i want to throw up nothing. please help. i am stuck. day after day. please help. clockwork. tick. tick. tick.
