Everyone thinks of different things when the word autumn comes up. Some think of thanksgiving, others cooler weather, and some more about festivities such as gatherings or drinks. I think differently. I’ve always connected the fall season to her. 

I’ve connected autumn to the girl that was as warm as the summer, but as comforting as the winter; the best in between. She’s not the spring. She doesn’t make flowers bloom, nor does she light up a room. She’s certainly not summer or winter, she can’t be. She’s anything but the star of a show like that. 

She’s autumn. She’s not the most cheerful, but she still makes me smile and laugh. She doesn’t light up a room with genuine light, but with comfort and acceptance. She’s not a main attraction, but she’s the only one I have my eyes on. For all of this, she’s autumn.

She’s always been autumn.

She’s my autumn.
