When summing up these particular statements, it seems to me that in today’s society, ‘chivalry’ is about as dead as me in that metaphorical ditch. Although to give my weasel of an ex credit, he would open doors for me, drive me home, and buy me flowers every so often. However, I have found that almost every girl or boy I ask see’s these very simple acts as rare as winning the fucking lottery. Yet, we all need to realise that this is the bare minimum, considering a homeless fella once bowed whilst opening the coffee shop door for me last week. Impressionable lovers like ourselves might actually take inspiration from this whole Disney World and be our own witches, who hate love and choose to be evil forever. Just minus the branch like pointy nose and bulbous mole, thanks. Now all heartbroken jokes aside, it may not seem it but I do commend Disney for painting our childhoods with such high standards, beauty and feeling. As even to this day when I’m feeling down, I know my favourite princess movie might cheer me up and take me back to simpler times. Back when the only thing I would worry about was burning my toast before school. Now that I’ve grown up, I’ve quickly realised that not everything has a happy ending, and truly that’s okay. It's shit and I’ll probably complain about it until your ear falls off but, it's okay. As I finish of eating a slightly overpriced Acai bowl, writing this very paragraph and staring out the adjacent window like in some sort of sexy yet sombre music montage. The smoothie bowl before me seems to slurp me into a cringey analogy, one that blends perfectly in my muddled yet exploring mind on this topic. As just like Disney and their movies which are expensive and Capitalist hungry, to anyone with eyes and a heart, you can’t help but see the colourful, youthful face of beauty. Each new type of fruit offering a different flavour to life whether you like it or not. And to me this is also a part of growing up, you will spend that money, regretting the loss of cash or not, it is spent. And as a result your left with a belly full of food and nutrients, it’s up to you whether you share how tasty this new smoothie place is with those around you or chose to never eat there again. Everything has a cause and effect. Now don’t worry guys, I’m starting to sound like my Dad, a very philosophical man. So ill end it here. From all this ranting or what I believe to have been a directed cathartic release, I’ve concluded my own ending, hopefully not totally expected and cliché. I, Imogen Rebecca Collette Harwood-Moss- cheers Mum and Dad nearly lost them with that lengthy name- from this moment on create my own storyline. I think it’s time I watch this upcoming movie through the lenses of my own eyes, front bloody row seats. I won’t live vicariously through the decisions and fairytale endings on the screens. But with a mind full to the brim with thoughts, critiques and rather nowty opinions I press play on this imperfect life. But I thank Walt, yes Walt Disney for all the character building along the way. The End…
