The Perfect Day Page #2
I wrote this story daydreaming about the future and what a perfect day in my life would look like from morning to late night.
So it is with bellies full of cabernet and rare (or in my wife’s case, not so rare) beef that we begin the trek back to our borough. We walk as much as possible to and from train rides. We hold hands. We reflect and laugh and beam about our dinner–the stories told, the laughter that resounded from our table. So much laughter. The night air nips our noses and stings our cheeks but I love it. And again, she loves me, so she pretends to enjoy it too. As we make our way back into our apartment, I stop to gaze in wonder at the beauty of the New York lights at night. It truly is a sight to behold. I then turn my gaze to the actual most beautiful sight I’ve ever seen–my wife’s face. We head to our oasis of a shower. It’s like a walk-in closet with glass walls and a tile floor. The water is hot and it feels good to wash the grit of the day and the city off of our bodies. We slip out and slip in to robes to enjoy a night cap with one more look out over our city. Then it’s time to shut down the apartment, turn off the lights, lose said robes and slip into bed. This perfect day has sadly come to an end. But fortunately for me, the night is still young…
