The Legend of the Eclipto: Deity of the Solar Eclipse Page #2
A story about the Solar Eclipse. I wrote this story out of sheer randomness. It's a little long, but please take your time reading it! It took a lot of brainstorming.
Summer 24
“I predict that if you make another demity just like I have done and then the two of them come together it will make another deity,”, Lunar stated. “One that can control the Solar Eclipse?”, Solar asked. “Yes. At least I hope so.” “What shall we call him then?” “Call him?” “Yes, of course! He isn’t a star anymore. He needs a name.” “I never thought of it like that.” “Hmm… yes! Since he looks like a miniature version of you, I’ll name him Lumio(lū-mē-ō)!” “That sounds nice.” They both looked at the demity for its approval. He thought about it for a minute, then nodded with a smile. Solar managed to do the same thing a year later with another star. She named this one Sunni(sŭn-nē). Sunni had shining, sunset-colored eyes with long hair as radiant as Solar’s. Her skin was also smooth but was more of a buttermilk color. Lunar thought it was unfair that Solar named both of them but was soon silenced by her charm. Sunni and Lumio then got to work. Lunar predicted that they had ten years until the Solar Eclipse. In that time, Sunni and Lumio were to gather a unique energy only found on Earth and use it to mature. When mature, Lunar hoped that the two could come together and form the deity who could control the Solar Elipse. The only problem was the demities couldn’t do it alone. They would need a partner, a human, to help aid and guide them on the Earth. They then traveled to Earth. Sunni was excited to see the Earth. She couldn’t wait to see what the Earth was like. Lumio, on the other hand, couldn’t be more afraid of going. He was scared out of his witts and doubted himself. It was the demities' job to choose their partner. Sunni wasted no time at all picking a young, humble boy. Lumio however was a tad more cautious and chose a brave young girl who could counter his timidness. The demities, with their partners, now known as ecliptic guardians, traveled the world in search of this energy. They all played and wept together, but most importantly, they grew up together. Their experiences deepened their bonds. Their collective wounds strengthened them. Ten years passed. Both Sunni and Lumio were now mature and their guardians had aged too. In just a few minutes the Solar Eclipse would occur. Solar started to see Lunar even though it was not nighttime. It was about to happen. The Solar Eclipse was underway. Lumio took Sunni’s hand. The two then closed their eyes and started to rise into the sky. They began to glow and illuminate the sky as their voices echoed throughout the land. “I am Lumio, demity of the Moon.” “I am Sunni, demity of the Sun.” The sky then darkened as the Moon blocked the Sun. “Together, we are Eclipto(ē-clĭp-tō)!”, the two said together as they started to merge into one. It was truly a sight to behold. The two beings had become one. Eclipto was upon the Earth, looking upon it with all its glory. The ecliptic guardians were in awe. Eclipto had short hair that was colored both blue and yellow. Its milk-white eyes were shaped like stars and glowed like them too. Eclipto turned towards the Solar Eclipse. At that moment, the Moon slowly moved away from the Sun. The sky lit up again. The Solar Eclipse crisis had been solved. Solar and Lunar were overjoyed. The stars chanted and cheered. “You did genius!” Solar cried happily and then pecked him on the cheek. Lunar was almost as hot as the Sun and his cheeks reddened. “W-Well, it was your idea!”, he said flustered, still not fully recovered from her kiss. “An idea is nothing without a plan, silly,”, and she kissed him again. With the crisis averted, Eclipto returned to the sky to rest. It had used a lot of energy to control the Solar Eclipse, which was challenging. It divided itself back into Sunni and Lumio and the two fell into a deep sleep. When they were to wake, they could start their journey again with a different guardian. Along with Solar, Lunar, and the stars, Eclipto has protected the Earth ever since. The End
