Whitman's face darkened. "You have no proof," he sneered.
But Ivory remained unflinching, producing the photograph of Blake and the mayor, along with other incriminating evidence. Whitman's confident demeanor faltered, and a flicker of fear crossed his eyes.
"Okay," he finally spat, anger lacing his voice. "How about 10 million or do you want more I can do that "
Ivory's heart pounded as she moved to arrest him. "Charles Whitman, you're under arrest for the bribe a Detective "
"What you can't do, Hey I'm talking you Morris" But as she secured the handcuffs around his wrists, a loud crash echoed from the entrance. Startled, Ivory turned just in time to see a masked figure burst into the room. In a flash, the intruder raised a gun and fired. Whitman fell to the ground, a look of shock frozen on his face.
The masked figure fled as quickly as they had appeared, leaving Ivory standing over Whitman's lifeless body, her mind reeling. She called for backup, her thoughts a whirlwind of confusion and determination.
