Quiet the Noise Page #3
The tragic events of the loss of Elle’s family.
Bang. My breath stopped. I started shaking. Tears started to fall from my eyes. Bang. my hands shot to my ears, covering them so tight. I fell to my side, the cement was so cold on the side of my face. I was crying. Was this real? Did I really hear those, or were they in my head? “No, no, no, no” I started to mumble. Then they started the sirens. That horrid sound drilled into my head. I tried to sit up the sirens getting louder as I uncovered my ears. I finally was able to sit up, and I turned around to look up the road. An ambulance and a black and white flew by me and took off toward my house. I stumbled to my feet and started screaming. “No, no” I bolted down the sidewalk faster than I ever have. I was sobbing. My slides have fallen off, but I didn't stop running. As I approached my house cops and medics were running through the door. I ran inside and saw my dad's body lying on the floor, dead. I fell to my knees too stunned to even breathe. I didn't even move. I sat there on the floor staring at my dad. It was gone. Everything was. That was the point I accepted my life was over. “So that's my story, a little dark but sometimes the true stories are.” I was messing with the string on my gown. “Elle there's a part missing, they caught him didn’t they?” Said Dr. Francis, My doctor at Oakwood Mental. “They did. Mike.” I said looking at my hands, they were shaking. “Liv’s dad. They say the target was my dad all along, the others were collateral damage,” I said with a little bit of a laugh. “What about Liv?” She asked, “Are you guys still close?” “Yeah” I responded, “I mean we’ll never be like how we were but, it's not her fault.” Dr. Francis reached over to me and grabbed my hand. “I think you're getting better slowly, but you're making progress, today is the first time you've been able to tell the whole story.” I paused for a small moment. “Hey, Doc, be honest how was it... my story??" She looked at me, confused "well can I tell you a secret?” I said with a smile and she nodded “It's all a lie. That whole story I've been spinning up all these years, yeah that's all it is a story. So let me tell you another one Dr. My whole life, I've never been good enough. I was never smart enough, or cool enough, or talented enough, but Jay was.” I stood up and walked around her chair. “My mom idolized him, she loved him so much, more than she loved me that's for sure. So, I killed her, and Jay too. Obviously I couldn't have him walking around as that reminder of how terrible of a daughter I am. I killed Lilly because I knew if she grew up she would live the same dreadful life I did. And contrary to what my mom believed I was a good sister I always looked out for Lilly. “Oh my god,” The Dr. said reaching for her radio as I grabbed it and threw it against the wall. “Oh my god,” I said mockingly “ Oh shut it they deserved it. Well, not my uncle I guess. He was just there so I killed him. My dad got to live cause he always loved me. Until he didn't. He blamed me for their deaths, and while I might have pulled the trigger they dug their graves. So I had to kill him too obviously. The best part is I didn't even plan on Mike taking the fall, but he had motive and was apparently seen leaving by a neighbor so it worked out quite swell.” “Why are you telling me all this?” Dr. Francis said. “Well, that's just it.” I said, “You haven't asked where my story ends.” I leaned over her and whispered in her ear. “Here's what's going to happen you’re going to walk out of here, you’re going to tell your boss I had a great meeting, and you'll never speak of this to anyone ever again. Do you understand?” “No,” she said “You’re not getting away with this.” “Hmm, wrong answer Doc.” I pulled my handgun from my waistband. Bang. It's a shame, I mean she was a nice doctor she just knew way too much. her death though dignifies that's in done. my job is complete. I no longer must live this dreadful life in the dreadful town. I can finally be happy. Bang.
