I Wish You Would Have Cheated Page #2
Everyone started to clear out and head to the fire station for a dinner prepared by the fireman's wives. I watched as they lowered the casket, the clouds started to cover the sky almost as if the sky was going to cry with me. "I love you more than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow. I'll see you soon my love." I say as I toss in the flowers I finally decided on. The florist for the wedding made my flower bouquet early so I could have it buried with him. A bouquet of roses and sunflowers lying on top of the casket is the last thing I see before I walk away. Dinner was nice but I was ready to get home. The second I walked in the door it hit me. I was never going to see him again, I was never going to be able to feel his touch or hear his laugh again. I head to the bedroom to change and see his EMS hoodie he left on the chair before his last shift because he decided it was too warm out. I put it on and sit on the bed staring at the ring box. I opened the box grabbing the note out first. In his handwriting it said " My love, I spent my entire life wishing for someone like you. Don't ever think for one second that I will ever give up on you. Not today, not tomorrow. Not for the rest of our lives. You are not just my wish come true. You are my beautiful reality and I can't imagine my world without you. I love you Daniella and I can't wait to spend eternity with you." I can't believe he actually wrote his vows. He was always joking he was just going to wing it at the wedding. I decided I wanted to wear his ring as a necklace so I would always have it, I reached into his nightstand and found a chain to put it on. I reach mine out of the box to put it on and notice there's writing on the inside. It says "Drive safe, I need you here." He always worried I would go back to street racing, and would tell me this every time I left the house. I put the ring on whispering "I do" and everything I had been holding in all day, hit me like a tsunami. The worst part you ask? He was killed on his way to work by a car crash cause by street racers.
