From Dust to Sparkles Page #2
A story on disability and the incredible organization I work at, due to my disability
The Clubhouse recently expanded and renovated our campus before camp started, and we are doing more construction now that camp is over as well, for the coming year. We welcome any kind of child, including allowing any of their therapies, on site! Everyone is included here and that is so special to me. To be honest, this is better than my wildest dreams and I could not be more grateful for clubhouse! I've just scratched the surface. There is so much more to say here, but I will just leave it at that for now. I really just want to say, that having a disabled child is not at all in any way a tragedy!! I've been on so many adventures that I wouldn't have gotten to go on if I weren't disabled. Speaking of adventures, I’ve gone to Camp Simcha Special for 11 years almost Bat Mitzvah amount! There at camp, I’ve met my cherry twin who also has NM. People always mixed us up in camp all the time. I have not seen her in over 10 years but we still are the best of friends, sisters even. I honestly don’t know what I would do without her- she understands everything I go through on a daily basis because she is practically my long lost twin. One day I will make it out there to London…. Life is all that more special as well. I'm grateful to be who I am and would not change it! Sure, it may be harder and may take some time to adapt to, but at the end of the day, every person is unique, so we as humans all come with our own set of issues, baggage, or whatever you wish to call it.
